The SCA Group was officially founded in Sweden on 27 November 1929. The company consisted of forests, sawmills, pulp mills and power companies. SCA started production of newspaper and built a paper machine in Ortviken in the 1950s. In 1961, SCA started its first kraftliner machine in Munksund and this marked the starting point for SCA’s packaging business.
In 1975 SCA took the first step towards becoming a hygiene products company with the acquisition of the Swedish personal care company Mölnlycke. This acquisition resulted in tissue, diapers, feminine hygiene and incontinence products being included in the product portfolio.
