Forest-based biofuel and wind power

SCA is one of Europe’s largest suppliers of forest-based biofuel.

Products

SCA supplies unrefined fuels such as logging residue (branches and tops from felling), bark, sawdust and peat as well as refined fuel such as wood pellets and briquettes.

SCA BioNorr is responsible for wood pellet production at plants in Härnösand and Stugun, Sweden.

Wind power

The business unit SCA Energy has been founded to develop a couple of wind power ventures, amongst them the plans to build six wind farms in northern Sweden as part of Vindkraft Norr, a jointly owned company with Statkraft.

Together with Fred.Olsen Renewables within the jointly owned FORSCA AB, SCA is investigating the possibility to build more wind farms.

Where to buy

Customers are private households as well as large and medium-size heat and cogeneration (CHP) plants in Europe. SCA BioNorr has retailers in Sweden, Norway and Denmark.

Wind power within the hygiene business

SCA uses own or bought wind energy within the hygiene business, e.g. at the SCA Tissue site in Menascha, USA and the SCA Personal Care site in Oława, Poland.
